Stone Soup 2024

Gathering Community, Nourishing Children

We had an amazing 10th Annual Stone Soup fundraising breakfast!

This year we celebrated 10 years of convening childhood leaders and supporters through Stone Soup! Our 2024 event focused on innovation, which is key to each of our strategic initiatives: Program Excellence, Workforce Enhancement, and Community Building.  After 10 years of Stone Soup, our children and families continue to thrive because of the creative strategies that Mile High Early Learning is implementing to increase access to high quality early care and education for under-resourced children and families.

Guests learned about our new “Growing the Early Childhood Workforce” program to recruit and train early childhood teachers and help them access our existing continuing education programs that have proven to successfully launch new early learning professionals. Watch this video to learn more!

Elizabeth Groginsky – New Mexico’s Cabinet Secretary for Early Childhood Education and Care, discussed her work to transform the state’s child care system, and Marlene De La Rosa and Jenalee Ceballos Romo shared about the innovative programs and partnerships that have helped their children and families thrive. Why Stone Soup?

Mile High Early Learning started with a concept developed by Anna Jo Haynes over 40 years ago. In the decades that followed, that concept – which is the stone in our stone soup – has been seasoned by partnerships, civic leaders, communities, volunteers, friends and families, enabling Mile High Early Learning to satisfy a growing hunger and need for subsidized, quality early childhood care and education.

Over the years, new ingredients have been added to our “soup” resulting in improved methods of teaching, better health and social services for our children and their families, and a growing understanding of the power of cooperation and collaboration. These ingredients are what give Mile High Early Learning the flavor that it has today. They enable our “soup” to be shared in Denver’s poorest neighborhoods and our children a chance for a successful start in school.

To continue nourishing Denver’s children with the quality early childhood education they need and deserve, we need to add ingredients to this soup, enhance its flavor and make certain our pot remains full. Thank you for continuing to be a key ingredient in our success.
