Stone Soup 2023

Gathering Community, Nourishing Children

Thank you to everyone who supported Mile High Early Learning’s 9th Annual Stone Soup Breakfast celebrating the power of partnerships! Because of the generosity of our friends and partners, we exceeded our fundraising goal and raised over $125,000 in support of our three strategic initiatives: Community Building, Program Excellence, and Workforce Enhancement.

Guests learned about our partnerships with Mercy Housing, Lifespan Local, and Mile High United Way to open new early learning centers in child care deserts that will create 160 more early childhood slots. Watch this video to learn more! You can also watch this video about our partnership with Swallow Hill Music.

We also heard from some of our families, staff, and child care partners such as Sabah Omer – owner of Little Folks Learning Center. Since we began working with Little Folks in 2019, Sabah has opened two new centers to serve more immigrant and refugee families. Sabah started with just 10 children and now serves more than 70!  Click here to view photos from the event!

Why Stone Soup?

Mile High Early Learning started with a concept developed by Anna Jo Haynes over 40 years ago. In the decades that followed, that concept – which is the stone in our stone soup – has been seasoned by partnerships, civic leaders, communities, volunteers, friends and families, enabling Mile High Early Learning to satisfy a growing hunger and need for subsidized, quality early childhood care and education.

Over the years, new ingredients have been added to our “soup” resulting in improved methods of teaching, better health and social services for our children and their families, and a growing understanding of the power of cooperation and collaboration. These ingredients are what give Mile High Early Learning the flavor that it has today. They enable our “soup” to be shared in Denver’s poorest neighborhoods and our children a chance for a successful start in school.

To continue nourishing Denver’s children with the quality early childhood education they need and deserve, we need to add ingredients to this soup, enhance its flavor and make certain our pot remains full. Thank you for continuing to be a key ingredient in our success.
